Original Painting - "Where is my bone, man?" 30x30 cm

Painting: Oil and Acrylic on Canvas.

This artwork is part of my exhibit "Contorte Attese" (June 2016, Lisbon, Portugal).
The "Contortions" series is about Self.
Human mind is able to squirm into impossible shapes and to trap itself into confined spaces, molding into surprising and sometimes painful, complex forms.

The animal (= Nature), following its natural rhythm, doesn't feel the need to outdo: it has simple priorities and a linear existence. Its simplicity communicates a serenity that is often lacking to the man, in his writhing in abstractions that often stray from its essential nature.

The contrast between the tension of the contortionist's body and the animal's serenity ends up creating a playful balance, where each painting declines the general concept of this work into a particular emotion or a specific temperament: it will be left to the viewer the task of finding a meaning for each image.
